Training of Trainers of PMB and other Agency staff in Cooperative Governance and Management

A ten-day Training of Trainers for PMB, SLIEPA and Cooperative Department in Cooperative Governance and Management has been carried out at the J&E Hotel in Bo.

The training serves to enable a network of trainers, using T.o.T training manual to organise and deliver field-based training sessions to board members, staff and members of agricultural cooperatives.

The training was delivered by a Consultant from Tanzania, Mr Albert Omar Mruma, hired by International Trade Centre.

By the end of the training, participants should among others be able to;

  • Develop basic concepts of Cooperatives, principles and practices
  • Facilitate the formation and registration of cooperatives
  • Identify strategies to address gender issues in Cooperatives

It is also expected that participants develop a positive attitude in the management of Cooperatives.

The Executive Chairman PMB Dr James Vibbi encouraged participants to develop more interest in the training noting that such training will bring changes in the Produce sector. He said PMB is poised in enhancing and maintaining quality in the Produce value chain.

The Consultant Mr Albert Omar Mruma called on the participants to fully participants and share experiences so that participants knowledge will be increased in the management of Cooperatives.

Participants have been equipped on the basic concepts of Cooperatives, principles and practices, facilitate the formation and registration of cooperatives and can identify strategies to address gender issues in Cooperatives.

The International Trade Center (ITC) Country Director Mr Wahab  Lera- Shaw appreciated participants for their commitment to the training. He said the sponsors of ITC in Geneva are really impressed with the daily updates of the training and willing to support the replication of the training to Cooperatives.

A Board Member of PMB Bobson Margai also expressed his impression about the training. He commended the Consultant for excellent deliveries during the ten-day training. He said this training has not only capacitated the staff of PMB but will contribute to the enhancement of quality in the value chain.

The Board Member registered PMB’s commitment to ensuring proper replication of the training. Similar sentiments were made by the Senior Accountant PMB Mr Ahmed Mannah on behalf of the Management of PMB.
