The Ag Executive Director of the Produce Monitoring Board (PMB) Mrs. Haja Isatu Kabba has joined other heads of MDAs to sign the 2016 Performance Contract with the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, at a colorful ceremony organized by the Performance Management and Service Delivery (PMSD) Directorate in the office of the Chief of Staff State House at the Bank Complex on Thursday 4th August, 2016.

The Twelve (12) Days Fact Finding Trek for the Development of the Produce Value Chain in the provinces (Kono, Kailahun, Kenema and Bo) was undertaken by the Produce Monitoring Board (PMB) under the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) as per the recommendations of MDAs present in the One Day Fact Finding Symposium held in Freetown. The goal for the replication of the same exercise with stakeholders in the province was to create awareness about the existence and operations of the PMB and to foster the active involvement of the other produce sector operatives in the transformation of the sector.

As a way of strengthening the relationship with farmers as well as motivating them to be able to produce more cacaos in the coming season backed up by the initiative to strengthen the operations of institutions under her Ministry, the erudite acting Minister of Trade and Industry, Madam Mabinty Daramy has tours Cacao plantation sites in the Bo, Kenema, Kailahun and Kono Districts. Madam Mabinty Daramy was alongside with the acting Director of the Produce Monitoring Board, Madam Isatu Haja Kabbah during the plantation visits in the Districts. Since 2014, the Trade Minister and the Produce Monitoring Board had not been able to tour to the farmers due to the Ebola outbreak.

The Produce Monitoring Board (PMB) under the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) in collaboration with Munafa Cooperative, Moawoma Women Development Association and the Cocoa and Coffee Commodity Association, held its first Price Risk Management (PRM) roll-out training workshop for trainees in Kenema, Kailahun and Kono.  The training was funded by the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO) and the Common Fund for Commodity (CFC) to improve the capacity of leaders and members of Producer Organizations (POs), buying agents, dealers and other stakeholders in the produce sector on how to manage their exposure to the risks associated with the volatile produce market, how to monitor and keep track of their economic activities and the importance and elements to consider while going into contracts.
